BALL LAMPS Online Workshop

6 hours long online course with Judit Pócs on the 7th of December (Saturday) 2024
from 5pm to 11 pm (Central European Time)

Are the dark winter evenings coming and do you want to conjure cozy lights in
your living room or on the festive table? Make ball lamps with me!

I recommend this course to both beginner and advanced felt makers.

About the workshop

You can put together very beautiful compositions from spheres of different sizes and colors. Arranged in smaller or larger groups, the lamps look good and give a cozy light.
Depending on what color wool you use, it lights up in different colors.
The breath thin layers of wool are combined with other fibers of plant origin, which give the object a pleasant shine even in daylight, and give the lamp a beautiful design when illuminated in the dark. Special textures are achieved by combining fibers with different shrinkage.
As a base, we will use 16-18 micron Australian merino wool tops, which we combine with Tencel Lyocell or Linen fibers. The end result is finer when using 16 Micron wool, but it also works with 19 Micron merino wool tops.
The spheres are shaped on balloons and dried after hardening. As a light source, I recommend any LED lighting inside. This can be an electric tealight or other battery- powered light source.
During the live and interactive session you will receive step by step assistance by me on how to create this ball lamps. According to my plans, we will make a smaller and a larger lamp during the course (the final size is 10 and 17 cm in diameter).
