Milkweed Sculpture Online Workshop
with Judit Pócs
on the 1st and 2nd (Saturday and Sunday) of May
from 7:30am to 13:30pm (Central European Time)
Let’s felt together a stunning Milkweed sculpture! During these two live and interactive sessions you will receive step by step assistance by me on how to create
this object. We will start to make the sculpture on Saturday and continue making it on Sunday, so we will have two times 6 hours to work on it.
This course is perfect for Australian and New Zealand participants, since they will
have afternoon starts of the workshop. It is also perfect for European early risers,
who can join in the mornings.
I recommend this course for advanced feltmakers.
Let me recommend you an easy-to-use time zone converter:

List of Materials and Tools
-
Fine Australian Merino Wool in Roving (Wool top), (Micron 16-19) a total of about 200 grams. The total weight of my Sculpture without the plastic granules is 120 g.
-
Pongé Silk 05 to make the pleat, 130 cm long and 17 cm wide.( 52 inches long and 6,7 inches wide)
-
Chiffon Silk 3,5 is not obligatory, as the object can be made without it, just in case you would like to decorate the outer shells with it. You could use two different shades, each of them should be around 20 x 35 cm ( 8 x 14 inches)
-
Plastic granules or any small-grained pearls to stuff the sculpture with. The point is to have it small, the diameter of the grain should be about 3-4 mm. You will need around half a cup, but to be sure have a 2 dl cup full with it.Plastic granules must be hard plastic. It’s shape does not matter, it can be square or round. It’s best to buy white or transparent, sure not to let go of its color.
If you type it in Google you will find a lot.
This kind of things are good:
Actually you could use any hard and small grained material, which does’nt absorbs water. So seeds and natural plants are not good for this purpose, since we will fill it into the sculpture quite right at the beginning of the felting process and we will work with warm and hot water. The seeds would grow by the water, which is not good for us. Polystyrene beads are not good, don’t take it!
-
To fill it in you need a funnel and a small measuring cup.
-
Saran wrap, this is very important! Plastic wrap, cling film, shrink wrap, Saran wrap, cling wrap or food wrap is a thin plastic film typically used for sealing food items in containers to keep them fresh over a longer period of time. That’s what we need.

Foam tube for rolling
