MEN'S FLAT CAP ONLINE WORKSHOP

on the 2nd of March (Saturday) 2024
from 5pm to 1am of the 3rd of March (Central European Time)

8 hours long online course with Judit Pócs.

Tired of ordinary, colorless and boring men’s caps? You don’t know
what to do with your felt waste accumulated over the years? Make a
cap for yourself or your partner!

I recommend this course for beginners and advanced alike.

About the workshop

In this course we will make a flat men’s cap, which is actually unisex, I like to wear it too.
For the inner layer, we will use an industrial pre-felt, which we will combine with Australian merino wool rovings of different shades, with a fiber thickness of 16-19 microns. For the patterning of the hat, we recycle felt pieces cut from our previous works. In addition to their colors, these patterns also bulge out plastically, giving the cap an interesting surface. The cavalcade of colors is softened with a layer of Chiffon 3.5 silk, which will also hold the pattern in place. The basic shape of the cap is relatively simple, but we will spend a lot of time shaping it before we achieve the desired end result. For this, it is important that the quality and quantity of the material is appropriate, so you will also need a scale. It is also very important that you use an industrial pre-felt of the right thickness. It is always beneficial if you have a hat block of the right size, but if you don’t have one, you can also shape the hat on your own head. You can finish the inside of the cap with a 3-4 cm wide Grosgrain ribbon. I use a sewing machine, but if you don’t have one, you can also sew the ribbon in by hand. This will not be part of the course, but I will send you a separate video about it.
